Tip #1 - Link out to dominant, authority sites in your niche but make sure to use the "nofollow" tag on the links. This helps Google and other search engines better determine what your page is about, plus your users gain more insight about what your page is about too. Can you say more RELEVANCE!! Usually what I will do is link my page out to a relevant Wikipedia page. Also linking out IMO will help your site get crawled faster as well....

Tip #2 - Do alot of inner page linking in the content on your website. But not just any pages...the most similar and relevant pages of your site. An easy way to know what Google thinks are relevant and similar pages within your site is to perform this search in Google.... site:http://www.mydomain.com "My keyword for this page" then Google will pull up all similar pages in your site for that keyword.. Then just link to together...This also helps the flow of PR and crawl ability of your site..

Tip #3 - Do not bleed the theme of your pages

Bleeding your theme basically means stay on topic to keep your pages HIGHLY RELEVANT to the topic of the page....Example If I have a page about "wedding gifts" then if I choose to link out from my page to another page in or out of my site about "wedding hairstyles" then I should use the "nofollow" tag....This way your keeping your page highly relevant to the search engines that this page is about wedding gifts and not wedding hairstyles..

Tip #4 - Silo Structure

Most people don't know about using the silo structure but it really helps to keep you from bleeding the themes and really takes your page relevancy to its full potential....Heres some nice easy graphs to help you understand it more.....Basically keep your apples with your apples and oranges with your oranges...and if you link out to an orange from an apple page then use a nofollow tag...I use the silo structure on my websites whenever possible. It seems to help me.

Tip #5 - If you must buy links then do not buy blogroll links, sitewide links, footer links, non relevant pages with your links...these types of bought links are known to be an area of abuse....I mean come on...people have been known to sell and buy in those areas FOREVER..I imagine Google has a data base of all the areas that they have had a report or found a bought link. They can then use that data to make really damn, good guess about anything.

Tip #6 - Any virtual real estate that you own that has an RSS feed then anywhere you can place that RSS feed then do it....If you build Squidoo pages, hubpages etc.. then add your blog feeds, article feeds etc to these pages but not in full text. Publish only snippets of your feeds this will defeat the possibility of duplicate content ....This will help your pages crawl ability, relevance, freshness..and everytime you publish an article or make a new blog post then your links will be spread everywhere....

EX: Say I have a 5 squidoo pages...in each one of these Squidoo pages I have my blog's rss feed...So now every time I publish a post on my blog then the 5 squidoo pages will have my blog post on them....Now just think if you had 50 squidoo pages, 50 hubpages with your feeds on them...Thats syndication power!!

Tip #7 Kaboodle, Thisnext

Kaboodle and Thisnext are social shopping and is Ecommerce and affiliate marketing gold....and a BUM marketers dream..  It's easy just add the button and your ready to go. Quickly and easily add your products in Kaboodle and thisnext. Make sure to Be more exact on your titles and descriptions of your products. So dont just think Mens Jeans... Think >>> Size 32 Tommy Hilfiger Means Jeans Boot Cut >>>> The long tail keywords like this are a diamond in the rough and they're really easy to get in the search engines...Long tail keywords also bring the buyers not browsers and in turn convert to more sales. $$$$$

Tip #8  Article Marketing

Now article marketing was really what helped bring me where I am today, before all of the web 2.0 sites starting sprouting out every day. I stayed up night and day writing my articles for my First Ecommerce store. It was a very big hassle especially when your married and your just fed up with the crap and low pay at work. So I did what I had to do to promote my site and link build. Back then the Algorithm was different then what it is now....Let me tell you...Back then IMO you could just publish your articles in loads of article directories and tons of them would rank and the links carry more weight in Google...Why don't I think that can really work as well anymore. Because tons of the article directories I think have been discounted and written off for lack of editorial control. Same thing with the regular directories. If you allow crap and have no editors then you are obviously of low quality right? Well not necessarily but in Google's eyes I think so.

Tip #9 Take advantage of all the free ways to get traffic.

Ezinearticles
Squidoo
Hubpages
Thisnext
Kaboodle
Youtube
Gather
Twitter
Hoobly

Heres a huge list

There are more and more ways that you can bum market your site. Bum marketing means you don't really pay anything to market your business just mainly time. If you sell a product or service then put it up and market it for users and search engines. Be specific with your title, description and tags. Also find a hook!! You can be one or all of these :)
Be unique, knowledgeable, hardworking, funny, cute, sexy, emotional, controversial at what you do and you will most likely have a better chance than alot of people at succeeding. So go build that Squidoo lense, or make a goal to publish 30 articles a month at Ezinearticles...Go start that blog and write your thoughts down and build a brand for your users....Go...Go...Build a hubpage for your Gift baskets your mom makes....Anyone can do this!!

Tip #10 ..It's a new revolution

It's not really like it used to be back before the internet got sooo big..and web 2.0 came on the seen and has been doing nothing but growing at a phenomenal rate...

Now marketing all together is really changing because everyone has a voice and is starting a conversation somewhere...Blogs, lots of people have blogs and can write their thoughts down and have a voice...Youtube..right their is your own tv channel...It's just crazy you know...Myspace, facebook, Social shopping, rate a babysitter, plumber, cable guy...everything is rated, reviewed and people can have a voice!

Before at that famous restaurant the chef, workers etc typically only had to really worry about those couple of critics that would publish what they thought about their experience in print. Now you have a voice, I have a voice..why? Because of all the new social sites and platforms that came about with Web 2.0 such as youtube, blogging etc..

The new revolution changed the way the music industry does business, because people share..........CD's are pretty much going bye bye..because everyone can easily download them on the net and get for free any music they want...You can easily SHOP and RATE any product or service online or have a voice about that persons service...Before this did not happen...

Just look at the presidential elections in the US how the bloggers, youtuber's and even the candidates themselves are using the power of the net to market...just not to long ago this did not happen..Why? It's because it's a new revolution called Web 2.0...so jump on!!

I encourage you right now to add your own tips, techniques, experiences with SEO, Web 2.0 and making money online below. Lets make this a 100% free, no strings attached "go to guide" for all new and advanced SEO's, marketers.

So..Who's got Tip #11

Hi James,
very nice tips, thanks for sharing.
I have a question: don't you think that the 1st and 3rd tips kind of contradict each other?
In the 1st, you say linking to authority sites with a nofollow helps SEs understand what the article is about. In the 3rd, you say we must use nofollow when linking to keep the page relevant.
Did I miss something?
Thanks.

Tony > If you link to authority sites that are relevant to your theme of a page then you are not bleeding your theme and your helping the search engines better determine what your page is about.

You can still stay on topic and link out of your pages.

These are really good tips, the biggest problem I have with social sites are the participation, I really dont have time to participate their discussion when I just join a new community/forum, and if i just leave my link it counts as a spam. I find ebay a really good place to just leave your site with a question and people would actually participate for you..
