Google has been negotiating back and forth for the past month or so with Digg to become Googles Authoritive news source. The deal is for 200 million. The deal is supposedly in final negotiations, however it could easily fall apart. But just think if 5 years from now the serps were votable up or down....crazy!! CommentsSat, 26 Jul 2008 01:50:41 I figured this would happen because it'll essentially allow google to do even LESS work than they already do for their own products. ;-) Seriously, though, it could well be the "only way" to serve up the kind of information they're looking for. Which is perhaps good for surfers, but I don't think it'll improve their search results any more than Alexa gives accurate web statistics, know what I mean? Tue, 29 Jul 2008 14:39:40 I don't know how I feel about this idea. Google should represent 'pure search'. The thought of people gathering their friends list to 'digg' their SERPs is a far cry from a fair search engine.
