Google recently announced that within the next week or so they are going to go full scale with Google suggest. This update to Google.com will help searchers easily find popular keyword phrases they are looking for that others have recently searched for as well. This IMO will have a pretty big effect on SEO....like plural and singular searches, misspellings, acronyms and result in some market higher bid prices in Adwords and will have a reinforcing effect on already popular searched phrases...

As you can see a search for popular wedding phrases pulls up almost all plural versions of popular wedding terms....

So this will have an effect on these terms...wedding dress will not get searched as much as it did before neither will wedding cake, wedding ring etc will not see as much traffic as they once did and will have a reinforcing effect on the search suggest keywords...hence their in search suggest so the other terms that are not in suggest wont get searched as much but the ones that are will get loads more...Considering most folks are lazy and will immediately drop down to the phrases of choice....

The same thing will misspelled words...The misspelled keyword market will diminish in value and will cause higher prices in Adwords....This new feature will cause higher bid prices, because the businesses that relied on misspelled phrases wont see as much traffic and will be either have to work on their seo or bid higher in Adwords or find other means of traffic...

Acronyms will lose almost all of their search value....because searchers will use the search suggest to complete their queries....

So if I was you I would nail down your market and see if your plural and singular terms are both showing up in suggest...if they aren't then you'd better work on the one that is showing up in search suggest...So if your targeting wedding dress, then you'd better put more emphasis on wedding dresses...because it's showing up in search suggest and wedding dress isn't..

Also you will see an increase in long tail searches as well....

Type in make money online and you'll see

make money online surveys

make money online uk

These terms will get more traffic! Why? Because people are lazy and they'll use suggest to fill in their queries....some phrases the person searching probably would have never thought of before search suggest existed...So drill your market and find the phrases that are showing up...and put them to use.....Search suggest can be used as a great keyword list builder too....So just something to think about next time your doing a search or mapping out the seo plan of your site....This will be a factor.....

Thanks for the heads up James. Didnt know Google were doing this. Looks like we will now all be at the mercy (and compliance) of Google Suggest!!!

James, did you get banned from DP because you advertised your book too much?

James

I think the ban at DP was ridiculous. The only thing you have ever done over their was provide it's users with the latest info, tips and techniques that have been very useful to me. It's wrong!!

Yeh it's crazy...but Fred I dont really care. They have their reasons LOL .... I only post on DP to help others and that's it!! I don't spam or anything like that... and I only make on avg 1.6 posts a day..

But what they don't realize is I have syndication power like FOX news... :)

Yeah, I agree. Stupid ban. I never have been banned, but I did receive a number of infractions for ridiculous reasons. How long are you gone from DP?

I have been using this via the Google Toolbar for sometime to conduct SEO research. However the number of results displayed directly in the search box will be very handy.
